O-ring calculator

Check the geometry before it becomes a groove.

Design a new groove or verify an existing one. The calculator shows squeeze, inner-diameter stretch, groove fill and tolerance extremes in one technical view.

Geometry & tolerance check

Start with the application, then add the dimensions.

Values update immediately. Use the tolerance view to see whether the complete min.–max. range stays inside the indicative design window.

These are editable project assumptions, not automatically selected ISO 3601 tolerances.

Indicative engineering calculation: recommended windows are based on commonly used O-ring design guidance for industrial reciprocating and face-seal glands. Groove fill uses an ideal rectangular groove and volume-conservation approximation; corner radii, thermal expansion, chemical swell, surface finish, pressure peaks and compound-specific behaviour require final verification.

Method & next step

Use the result as a design review, not as automatic approval.

The calculator follows the application structure used by established O-ring tools: choose compression direction and motion, define the ring and hardware, then review the installed condition. The min.–max. view makes the entered manufacturing tolerances visible instead of hiding them behind one nominal result.

For critical designs, confirm the exact compound, O-ring tolerance class, extrusion gap, groove finish and installation method with Kimman. Continue to Chemical Compatibility when the medium is known.
